Paving at the cathedral and plans for a new bishop’s house

Concreting and paving works are progressing at an intensive pace at the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Majunga. At the same time, the purchase of the equipment and furniture needed for the church offices continues. This historic church was built in 1929 by Nikolaos the Cretan, with the important contribution of Greek emigrants who had settled in Madagascar. It is a precious legacy of the faith, piety and presence of Hellenism in the region, keeping its spiritual and historical value intact to this day. With the completion of the renovation and landscaping works, the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas will take on a new look, worthy of its history and mission, offering a place of prayer, hospitality and spiritual rest for the clergy, the faithful and visitors. In addition, the start of construction of the new Bishop’s House on the right side of the church is planned shortly. This project will significantly strengthen the administrative, pastoral and missionary work of the Missionary Diocese of Majunga and North Madagascar, contributing to the further development of the local Church and of Orthodox witness in the region.
